Need a website to collect mailing address data to target neighbors of my restaurant?

June 20th, 2009

I am doing some self promotion and I would like to mail coupons to potential customers who live within a mile radius to my restaurant. I cannot afford to pay for a service to give me the addresses and i do not wish to purchase pre-addressed labels, just do the mailing in house. Any suggestions?

In the old OLD days, I could use yahoo phone book and it showed adjacent neighbors etc but i don’t see that it does that now.

Thanks!

Is asking about my website MyPetWeb.net a shameless attempt at self-promotion?

I **** to spam forums and other sites, but how do you go about getting people’s attention. Banner ads are ignored. Email promotions are considered spam…so questions seem good… What do you think ?

How much do you love or **** self-promotion here in the Internet?

March 7th, 2009

Well? It’s always, Look at my pics and what not. People who are constantly promoting themselves may leave a handful of different expressions. I don’t like other people who are in love with themselves, but I do admire people who have the creativity to express themselves in front of a wider audience. Whichever it is, who am I to say anything?

Does anyone else expect to see a surge in YA spam / self promotion in the next weeks?

March 1st, 2009

I really like my peers here in Advertising and marketing. And, like most, I really get annoyed with the check out my site spam that is rampant in this category.

I thought this was the worst form of abuse. But…. after attending SES San Jose this week where there was a lot of talk of creating links from social networking sites and centralized communities, I have a new concern.

Yes, there’s a question here.

Just wondering if anyone besides me (from the show or not) expects to see an influx of new enthusiastic blanket posters in the SEO / SEM space that will only be posting the same 10 scrolling pages of a boilerplate answer that cover all aspects of every web topic imaginable) only to have the resource point back to their own site/blog/shop.

Does this really add any value? Obviously there’s a little link love as a result. But, the contribution is spammy — will that be reflected in the link quality that these posters are trying to receive?
