What is a typical relocation package to ask for when negotiating a promotion offer to move elsewhere?
June 30th, 2009
I have been offered a promotion to move out of state from my current job. I am happy where i am at, own a home but i would like to make more money. I am 25, not married with no kids so i have nothing to hold me back. The cost of living in the new city is roughly $8000 more as compared to my current salary. All expenses would be covered and my company is really good at taking care of the move financially with covering losses on the house sale. I am looking to get a raise that will cover the cost of living increase and then some so that i am coming out ahead from where i was previously. Also i would like to go to school to get my masters. Would it be too much to ask for 15000-20000 increase in salary when taking into account the living cost increase? Also would it be too much to ask for tuition assistance for grad school if not a full out paid ride to go to school part time (they will already pay roughly half)?
